To Sea       (Song)       (back)

To see the sea the sea and you, beside you with a view so blue,

a finer thing I can not do, to watch the darkness change in hue,

from stars and moon to sun and dew, beside the sea be-seaside you.

I’ve been thinking about how difficult it is to feel at peace in the rain.

How fear of the storm makes it all the more sudden.

I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to put up umbrellas and only feel cold and alone.

I’ve been thinking about how hard it is to turn our eyes up and be awed by the site sound and sense the elements are with us.

I’ve been thinking about how serious getting wet is considered and what a joy to cry.

And how funny it should be that we have so much difficulty getting round each others umbrellas.
